Vážená paní Angelo, milí sousedé,
chceme vám poděkovat za váš přístup k válečným uprchlíkům a zároveň vyslovit uznání nad způsobem, jakým jste se jich ujali.
Vy, vážená paní kancléřko, jste přijetím asi jednoho milionu uprchlíků dokázala udělat nebývalé humanitární gesto, čímž jste jednak pomohla lidem na cestě, jednak jste tím napomohla ke stabilizaci Evropy v její nelehké situaci. Příklonem k tradičním evropským hodnotám, mezi něž patří i solidarita s trpícími, jste riskovala svoji politickou kariéru. Ukázala jste tak, co odlišuje velké státníky od běžných politiků. Jsme proto rádi, že vaši voliči to cítí podobně jako my a mají ve vás i nadále důvěru.
A zároveň jste Evropanům dala naději, že euro-americký trend, spočívající ve směřování od demokracie k autoritářství a spjatý s nenávistí, má svoje meze.
A mezi vámi, vážení němečtí občané, se našly desetitisíce dobrovolníků, kteří pomáhali a pomáhají uprchlíkům v začátcích a podílejí se na jejich integraci. Obdivujeme vaši lidskost, odhodlání a vědomí, že namísto planého řečnění je třeba přiložit ruku k dílu.
Kéž by i v České republice byli státníci takového formátu a reakce veřejnosti byla obdobná.

Sehr geehrte Frau Angela Merkel,
wir möchten uns bei Ihnen für Ihre positive Einstellung zu den Kriegsflüchtlingen bedanken und gleichzeitig unsere Anerkennung für die Art und Weise äussern, wie Sie dieses gar nicht einfache Problem zu lösen versuchen. Sie haben, geehrte Frau Merkel, mit der Aufnahme von ungefähr einer Million Flüchtlinge eine unerhört grosszügige Geste gemacht, mit der Sie sowohl den Menschen auf der Flucht geholfen, als auch zur Stabilisierung der komplizierten Situation im Europa wesentlich beigetragen haben.
Mit Ihrem Bekenntnis zu traditionellen europäischen Werten, zu denen auch die Solidarität mit Leidenden gehört, haben Sie Ihre politische Karriere riskiert, aber gleichzeitig anschaulich demonstriert, was die grossen Staatsmänner und Staatsfrauen von gewöhnlichen Politikern unterscheidet. Wir freuen uns, dass es deutsche Wähler ähnlich wie wir verstehen und ihr Vertrauen zu Ihnen bewahrt haben - vielleicht deshalb, weil Sie uns eine Hoffnung bringen, dass die heutigen mit Hass erfüllten autoritären und antidemokratischen Tendenzen in Europa und Amerika seine Grenzen haben.
Und unter Ihnen, geehrte deutsche Bürger, gibt es Zehntausende der Freiwillige, die bereit sind, den Flüchtlingen zu helfen und sich an ihrer Integration zu beteiligen. Wir bewundern Ihre Menschlichkeit, Mut und Überzeugung, dass man sich antatt unnützen Redens an der Hilfe aktiv beteiligen sollte. Wenn es nur in der Tschechischen Republik auch Staatsmänner von solchem Format und eine ähnliche öffentliche Reaktion gäbe!

Esteemed Chancellor Merkel, Dear Neighbors,
We would like to thank you for the approach you are taking towards the refugees of war and also express our appreciation of the way you have taken them in.
You, Esteemed Madame Chancellor, have managed, by receiving approximately one million refugees, to make an unusual humanitarian gesture, aiding people on their journeys and helping to stabilize Europe in her currently difficult situation. By inclining toward traditional European values such as solidarity with those who suffer, you risked your political career. You have demonstrated what differentiates a great statesperson from an ordinary politician. We are glad that your voters feel the same way we do and that they continue to believe in you. You have also given those of us here in Europe hope that the current Euro-American trend of turning away from democracy to an authoritarianism connected with hatred has its limits.
Among you, dear German citizens, tens of thousands of volunteers have been found who have aided and assisted the refugees from the beginning and who have contributed to their integration. We admire your awareness that instead of mere speeches it is necessary to take action, we admire your determination, and we admire your humanity.
We wish that the reaction of the public here in the Czech Republic had been like yours, and that our statespeople were like you.
